On-the-Job Training (OJT) provides funds* to reimburse employers for costs associated with training a prospective or new employee. OJT is ideal for employers who are looking to:

  • Reduce new hire training costs
  • Expand their business
  • Hire staff trained with specialized skills

*50% of wages during the on-the-job training period will be reimbursed to the employer (typically 4-6 weeks).

Eligible employers must:

  • Do business in Kent, Allegan, Barry, Muskegon, Ottawa, Montcalm or Ionia County
  • Have been in business for at least one year
  • Have at least one full-time employee
  • Be financially sound and current on all state tax obligations
