Jen Schottke is the President of the West Michigan Construction Institute (WMCI), a comprehensive commercial construction educational institution located in Grand Rapids, MI. WMCI builds strong communities by preparing the next generation of construction professionals for lifelong careers. WMCI opened its doors to students in January 2022 after completing a successful $6M capital campaign and serves high school 11th and 12th grade students through a Career and Technical Education program, adult students in six trade-specific certification programs (carpentry, concrete, drywall, exterior envelope, plumbing, and sprinkler fitting), and industry professionals through professional development and certification programs.
Jen is passionate about inspiring young people to choose careers in construction. An advocate for the craft professions, Jen dedicates her time at WMCI leading her team in providing exceptional craft/trade, certification, and professional development programs, providing student outreach and education opportunities in the K-12 educational system, and advocating for the commercial construction industry.
Jen is a strong voice for workforce development in the West Michigan commercial construction industry. Jen is a board member on the Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority, a board member on the West Michigan Works! Workforce Development Board, and a commissioner on the Grand Rapids Planning Commission. Jen is deeply committed to striving toward equity in education and the commercial construction industry.
