Were you a member of the US Armed Forces? If so, you and your spouse may qualify for priority of service and other individualized employment services through West Michigan Works!

Veterans possess many of the soft skills that employers are seeking. Effective communication, teamwork, dependability, responsibility, multitasking and the ability to work under pressure are some of the many skills that are engrained in veterans from the beginning of their military career. West Michigan Works! can help veterans translate all of these skills into a civilian career.

Priority of Service is available to eligible veterans and their spouses and provides access to employment services before or in place of non-veterans. When visiting a service center, let the staff know you are a veteran at check-in to take advantage of this entitlement.

Veterans Representatives* work with veterans to identify the military skills that are transferrable to local, civilian job opportunities.

Disabled Veteran Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialists* provide intensive one-on-one services designed to help eliminate barriers to employment. They can assist with resume development, interviewing skills, networking and use of social media, as well as direct referrals to other service providers.

Veteran Networking events connect veterans to community resources and local employment opportunities and provide a valuable opportunity to network with other veterans and local employers.
