Hannah Wyman

Hannah Wyman joined our Job’s for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) chapter in December 2017 and already has seen success. She’s her way to accomplishing her goal of earning a GED within six months.

Hannah has overcome a lot since entering the program. As a result, her confidence has soared and her enthusiasm to ‘pay it forward’ to other JMG team members. Hannah actively empowers other youth by openly sharing her history of depression.

Leadership

As the president of our JMG chapter, she takes her responsibility as a leader to other chapter officers seriously. Hannah assists with the planning and leading of our monthly Professional Association meetings. Hannah constantly seeks to empower her fellow team members as well as her community at large. She has been integral in the planning and acting on a variety of community service projects. Hannah is also a Sunday school teacher at her church.

“I have a fear of failing due to past experiences, though I desire nothing more than to prove everyone wrong, especially myself. I have what it takes to do whatever it is I set my mind to. I can receive a diploma and get started on my journey to college and employment,” said Hannah.

Career Development

Hannah is constantly participating in opportunities that will further her career development like: Legislative Day, Career Development Conference (CDC), Leadership Day, and Nation Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) in Washington D.C.  She was selected to attend NSLA given her outstanding leadership abilities. (It was Hannah’s first time on an airplane and visiting our nation’s capital!) Hannah placed 3rd in public speaking and 2nd in the group team building activity at the 2018 CDC.

She’s had many accomplishments already including:

  • passing two of four GED tests
  • earning her driver’s license in May 2018
  • participating in an 8 week summer work experience program in 2018, where she worked as an Assistant to the Director at the Boys and Girls Club
  • forming GED study group with other JMG members

Hannah is still undecided on her career pathway. She was interested in dental hygiene, but is exploring career possibilities in psychology after a recent job shadow.
