A construction managers day is going to vary. They will typically start the day before dawn and tasks will include site visits, meetings, planning, and paperwork. The manager must be a strong communicator to keep everyone on the same page and ensure projects progress on time and in budget.
What are duties of a construction manager?
- Plan and schedule project activities.
- Prepare budgets, progress reports and cost tracking reports.
- Supervise construction workers.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts with architects, consultants, suppliers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Study job specifications.
- Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with codes and regulations.
- Investigate damage and accidents, and ensure procedures are followed.
What skills or experience does a construction manager need?
- Ability to coordinate people and projects.
