Careers in Construction Month

OCTOBER IS CAREERS IN CONSTRUCTION MONTH

DID YOU KNOW?

  • The construction industry estimates it will need 9,000 new workers each year in Michigan.
  • Seven out of 10 construction jobs don’t require a bachelor’s degree.
  • The gender wage-gap in construction is much lower than other industries. Women earn 95.7% as much as men in construction, 14% more than the average across all industries.
  • Entry-level construction laborer jobs in West Michigan require no formal education and the median wage for this occupation is $17.14 per hour.

Careers in Construction Month is a nationwide campaign designed to increase public awareness of the opportunities available as a craft professional.
