Resources to Help You Find Your Next Job

 

Michigan Works! One Stop Service Centers are equipped with computers for Internet job search (search Pure Michigan Talent Connect to find hundreds of job openings) and resume development, as well as copiers, telephones, and fax machines at no cost for your job search related use.  Best of all, friendly staff is available to assist you every step of the way.
 
One-Stop Service Centers also provide a variety of resource materials to assist you in finding employment. Videos, books, and workshops provide excellent information on industries that are hiring, interviewing tips, resume and cover letter assistance, and more. Information on training institutions and community service information are also available.
 
Career Building Assistance
Long term unemployment, an unsteady economy, and new skill requirements can make it difficult to transition into the next job. Michigan Works! staff is available to assist you in determining a career path, analyze your current job search techniques and strategies and offer advice. Career Coaches can assist you in putting together a plan to help you take your next step.
 
Training for Your Career
Scholarships are available in high demand careers to prepare you for today's workforce.  
 
Assessing Your Current Skills
Michigan Works! offers Career and Skill Assessments to help you determine what career may be a good fit for you. Using quality assessments such as WorkKeys, staff can help you determine the careers your skills would best fit or what areas you may want to work on improving.
 
Youth Services
Michigan Works! provides services to youth and young adults, ages 14 to 21. At no cost to you or your family, Michigan Works! can help you prepare for employment and/or post-secondary education, like college, technical school, or a certificate training. The kind of services that are included in the youth program include tutoring, study skills training, summer employment opportunities, paid and unpaid work experience, leadership development opportunities, adult mentoring, and comprehensive career guidance.  Learn more about youth services >
